It is housed in a polycarbonate shell that is milled from a single block of material. It includes a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display and is driven by a 1.4GHz single-core SnapDragon processor with 512MB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The camera includes Carl Zeiss optics and captures images at 8-megapixels. It features autofocus, LED flash, and video capture at 720p HD.
According to an internal memo supplied to Phone Scoop, Nokia and Navteq are undertaking a massive reorganizational approach to their mapping and social networking services. The three foundational elements behind this change are being made to support the following: new social-location applications, services, and developer experiences that engage a large user-base to build a winning brand and ecosystem together with Microsoft; high-value location content enabling differentiated experiences; and high-value advertising network monetizing the ecosystem by providing local commerce services for brands and merchants. Effective May 1, Nokia's Tero Ojanpera and Navteq CEO Larry Kaplan will work on the creation of a new business unit that consolidates all Nokia location assets, including Navteq and Nokia social-location services, into a single organization to accomplish these goals. Many of the companies' sub-units are to be transferred and/or shifted to new teams, with many of them falling under the new Mobile Phones Business Unit. Further, Nokia and Navteq will not only be targeting Nokia devices and the Windows Phone platform, but will also "focus on horizontal services that target Nokia devices, and beyond Nokia devices, including the ongoing availability of Navteq data to all its B2B partners." They believe these organization changes "will drive the next generation of location and commerce capabilities for the entire industry." This plans have not yet been made officially public

Samsung today announced that with the launch of the Galaxy S 4G, it is among the first of its devices in the U.S. to support direct carrier billing for the Media Hub. The Media Hub is Samsung's music, movie and TV content store, which can be accessed directly from the device. Any content downloaded from the store can be billed to a user's T-Mobile account rather than necessitate the use of a credit card. Media Hub purchases can be shared with up to five other devices.
Speaking in an interview with Forbes, AT&T's CTO John Donovan said that the company plans to deploy Voice over LTE (VoLTE) on its forthcoming LTE network by the year 2013. Donovan said that AT&T is waiting for VoLTE's standards to be more fully finalized, and is working aggressively on plans to transition voice services from its current network to VoLTE, though the entire process is part of a seven-year plan to make improvements to its voice capabilities. By the time this plan is complete, AT&T will shut down its TDM (time-division multiplexing) platform for services that run fully on LTE. Donovan also confirmed that AT&T is paying attention to bandwidth on its network. He believes that the public should approach similarly to the environment with respect to conservation. "A wireless network is a shared resource just like water and land," he said.
