Synchronica Agrees to Purchase Nokia Messaging Unit Thursday, June 30, 2011

Synchronica recently announced that it plans to acquire Nokia’s white label mobile messaging service, which provides email, instant messaging, and social networking to North American network operators. Under the terms of the deal, Synchronica will take over Nokia’s existing contracts with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and other operators, giving Synchronica more than 6 million customers in North America. Synchronica will supply Nokia with messaging services for its S40 phones moving forward. It will merge the messaging services with its own, and continue to develop and refine the software by adding features such as contacts/calendar management. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the companies expect the deal to close by the end of July.
